Omaha Fashion Week is wrapping up its virtual Spring 2021 season. We transitioned with the pandemic to go Beyond the Runway and discuss the many facets of the fashion industry. In case you missed it or just want to relive it with us again, here are all the highlights from a week full of notable fashion conversations, past showcases, and local shopping.
This season, we’ve gone virtual…shopping included! Our annual Shop the Runway Sunday event will take place online throughout the day Sunday, March 28th. Join us on social media to purchase looks from local designers. Find out more about the designers who will be taking over to showcase their work!

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln made the decision to potentially close the Department of Textiles, Merchandising, and Fashion Design due to budgetary issues caused by the pandemic. On October 14th, the Academic Planning Committee held a virtual hearing to discuss the potential closure. In this hearing, almost 200 participants watched as professors, students, alumni, and community leaders spoke in opposition of the department closure. The hearing, which lasted for over four hours, provoked serious discussions on the university’s failure to follow its guidelines and procedures while making budget cuts.

The Fashion Impact Awards are taking place tomorrow! We invite you to attend the virtual gala, the biggest event of the year for the Fashion Institute Guild. We’ve missed events and the excuse to get dressed up, but now we have a chance. Omaha Fashion Week wrapped another season of Fashion for Good this past Saturday, after a three day celebration of fashion talent in the Midwest. Designers competed nightly for prizes during Omaha Fashion Week Designer Showcases! Emerging Designers by Metropolitan Community College and Featured Designers were scored by an Omaha Fashion Week Selection Panel based on the creativity and innovation of the collections, overall presentation, and incorporation of masks as a fashion element. We are excited to announce the winners of awards based on tallied scores from our panelists!
Omaha Fashion Week’s VIP Finale closed out the week with a sold out showcase on Saturday night. This season's designer collections feature strong juxtaposed themes of creation and destruction, order and chaos, nature and civilization. Emerging Designers by Metropolitan Community College and more established Featured Designers competed for prizes totaling up to $5,000.

Omaha Fashion Week’s Fall 2020 season of fashion and glamour is presented in a hybrid format, including a live event and a digital stream. Harmonia was the theme of Friday night and was centered around the Greek goddess of concord and harmony.
