Boutique Weekly: Three Clothing

Hello weekend warriors! Omaha Fashion Week is finally here and we're going to leave you with one last Boutique Weekly before this week gets rollin. Kylie, the expert stylist, and I recently made a trip to THREE Clothing to scout for some sweet threads. This was my first visit and I wanted to buy everything in sight. They carried such a variety of color, prints, and textures. The clothes and accessories are also at very reasonable price! You can't beat that. Through all of the digging and searching, here's what we came up with.
Top $29.50 | Belt $19.50 | Skirt $49.50 | Shoes $34.50
Let's take a moment and admire how cute Kylie is in this outfit! The polka detailing on the top and skirt flow so nicely. The added plum belt was great touch, so that it accentuates the waist creating more of an hour glass shape. A pair of nude heels complete this quirky look, bringing all the attention towards the geometric prints.

Top $29.50 | Belt $19.50 | Skirt $38.50 | Shoes $34.50
Let it be known that it is perfectly okay to take fashion risks. Wearing bright colors can put you in the spotlight, and that's exactly where you need to be, girl. I decided to play with fire and pair a bright red skirt with some yellow accents. This outfit is so sunny! It wouldn't complete without the abstract heart print top. This combination will have you walking on sunshine. Who wouldn't want that?

Ring $9.50 | Bracelet $4.50 | Top $24.50 | Pants $49.50 | Shoes $39.50
Our last look is casual and loud. It's also a dose of inspiration for you to dust off your favorite graphic tee, and dress it up for a night out. The houndstooth harem pants are an added statement along with the fuchsia platforms. This combination is both cozy and chic.

Children's wear will be dancing around the runway tonight at Omaha Fashion Week. Also, miss Hollie Hanash of Ruffled Runway will be rocking some THREE Clothing, so keep your eyes peeled! You can find THREE Clothing located in Shoppes at Aksarben. Be sure to check out and LIKE Kylie's styling on facebook. I couldn't be more thankful that she came along on the Boutique journey.

BZZZ Produces OFW 2013 Official Song

Screen Shot 2013-08-14 at 2.47.16 PM

Omaha Fashion Week is proud to support and feature not only local fashion designers, but we love to highlight local artists in other creative disciplines as well, especially disciplines that go hand in hand with fashion and the runway!

To that end, this year we are very proud to feature the music of BZZZ on the OFW runway. BZZZ is a Lincoln based electro pop group whose 2013 debut EP The Conclusion is turning heads across the music industry; generating rave reviews and 5 star ratings on iTunes, landing on global distributor's "hot lists", and featuring on fashion videos with celebs such as Stacy Keibler.

We love BZZZ’ music so much we asked them to produce a special "Runway Remix" of their hot song, “Fashion”, as the OFW 2013 Official Song. Check out the original single!

BZZZ’ “Fashion Runway Remix” is a fifteen minute extended version of the original song produced specifically for Omaha Fashion Week. It will be played for the first time at the OFW Runway Finale on Saturday August 24th. The track will set the beat for our designers and models on the OFW runway, and will be woven into the show in various ways. After the show, it will be officially released on Tuesday, August 27th as a single on iTunes and digital stores everywhere. However, as a special treat for OFW fans, BZZZ will be giving away the "Fashion Runway Remix" as an MP3 download on the BZZZ website the Sunday and Monday after the show only. Our VIP guests will receive a free download card in their gift bags for not only the “Fashion Runway Remix”, but for the BZZZ debut EP The Conclusion as well.

So look and listen for BZZZ, “Fashion” and other BZZZ songs at the OFW Runway Finale next week, and in the meantime check out BZZZ.

Boutique Weekly: Gramercy

Hello readers! We're back with another Boutique Weekly post and this time we'll be featuring a few looks from Gramercy. This cute little shop is also located in Countryside Village. I was blown away with the vast selection of beautiful gowns and colorful accessories. If you're not red carpet ready, this is the place for you to fulfill that notion. Here's a little inspiration to help ease you into the process.

Coral Bangel $30 | Bead Bracelet $38 | Taupe Sandals $158 | Dress $158 | Necklace $38 | Earrings $48
This outfit is adorably daring. The arrowhead printed dress is a perfect statement to wear on a night out or even on the red carpet! This piece is suitable for any body-type and the tie at the waist makes for a comfortable fit. The coral & gold plated jewelry Kylie paired with this outfit is just enough to complete this show stopping look. She also kept her shoes minimal, by adding a pair of taupe sandals.

Dress $297 | Necklace $85 | Clutch $32
I couldn't help but to fall madly in love with this dress. Not only is the fit flattering for any body type, it's also extremely comfortable to move around in. The deep V-neckline is both beautiful and sexy. Below it the fabric drapes nicely beyond your feet, making you look like you've got legs for days (Let's keep in mind that I'm 5'2). The back has a peak-a-boo cut-out, so you can show a little skin! This dress hugs you in all the right places. If you've got curves, own them in this timeless dress.

Statement Ring $18 | Black & Gold Bracelet $32 | Necklace $38 | Shoes $158 | Black Leggings $45 | Black Chain Belt $30 | Black Sheer Top $182 | Bright Undershirt $158
This outfit is definitely a favorite of mine. The contrast of the bright accessories against the black is just divine. The playfully bold tank underneath the sheer top also adds a hint of color! The ruffles at the bottom of the top can be played up by synching a belt at the waist to create an effortless peplum look. Last but not least, Kylie paired a cozy pair of leggings underneath and some simple slingback sandals. This combination is proof that accessories can take your outfit to the moon and back.

Dress $189 | Necklace $58 | Earrings $48
One of the most trendy and versatile dresses of the year, the high-low dress, is taking the streets by storm. This gown's amazing color and design caught my eye immediately. The back of the dress also has a wicked cut-out shape. The tail end of the dress flows in the back, that can leave you feeling as important as super woman (or any one of your favorite super heros).

Thank you again for reading another Boutique Weekly! Kylie and I had a blast dressing up at Gramercy. Fashion Week will be here in less than a week! Have you picked out your outfits yet?

Boutique Weekly: Roots & Wings

On a sunny afternoon, my coworker Kylie and I went "boutique scouting". Our first stop was Roots & Wings sitting in the middle of Countryside Village. It was my first time visiting and I must say, there was a lot of good merchandise to choose from. I ran into brands such as Free People, BB Dakota, TOMS footwear, M2F denim, and more. Overall the clothing style was leaning towards boho casual, however many of the clothing pieces could easily be dressed formally. We picked out a few items, enough for three outfits. Here's the aftermath!

Free People Sheer High Neck Top $68 | Free People Paisley Legging $68 | BB Dakota Red Lace Bandeau $30
I'm really loving this boho-chic, textured combo Kylie put together for this outfit. The top was a dainty, sheer fabric with buttons along the train of the back. The high low design gave this piece elegance. Instead of pairing a camisole or tank top underneath, Kylie paired it with a red lace bandeau, adding a hint of color. The navy paisley coated leggings really pulled this look together, adding detail from head to toe.

Free People Floral Eyelet Dress $148 | BB Dakota Black Flap Jacket $95
It was love at first sight with this dress. The floral print and eyelet detailing really make this dress a statement on it's own. The waist is slightly see-through around the cut-out floral design wrapped around the middle. I threw on a leather jacket to take this look from girly to edgy. The jacket's silhouette generously shaped my upper body, letting the dress peak through. Pair this look with some delicate strappy sandals, or some combat boots to grunge it up.

Quick Silver Polka Dot White Tank $34 | M2F Red Skinny Jeans $145 | Free People Denim Jacket $148
For the last look, Kylie took a more casual approach pairing a graphic tank top with a laid-back denim jacket. The jacket is a very admirable piece due to the fabric & denim mix. The polka dots on the top inspired a colorful pant. The red jeans were certainly a good choice!

That's all folks! We hoped that you enjoyed this addition to Boutique Weekly and there will be more posts coming your way! It's been a blessing having Kyle come along with me. We hope that you take inspiration from both of our styling perspectives.

Boutique Weekly: Hello Holiday!

Hello fashionistas! You'll be very happy to know that I made a visit to Hello Holiday's office to scout out some outfits for some inspiration to share with you! I was surrounded by adorably quirky prints and timeless dresses. Needless to say, I was in heaven. For those who aren't familiar; Hello Holiday is an online women's wear shop offering a wide variety of classic, yet whimsical clothing for women of all sizes. So in summary, if you're looking for something fun and flattering to wear for Omaha Fashion Week, Hello Holiday is that cherry on top of your sundae. I picked out a few pieces and mixed them into my wardrobe. Ready, set, go!

Peppermint Patty Dress
If you're interested in brightening up your look, why not get lost in fresh peppermint? This dress is a breath of fresh air and can make you feel like a million bucks. The material of this dress is flexible and warm. The dress hits about knee length and is decorated in pleats creating a fuller look. The back of the dress forms a racer back shape. Cooler weather? Just pair it with some tights and a blazer. You'll be breaking hearts in this stunner.

Foster Frames / Tick Tock Atomic Top
While searching through the closet of Hello Holiday, it was very challenging for me to decide which prints to pick out. The quirky, retro print on this little top is irresistible. The peplum shape is always a flattering choice as well. On the back are buttons that fasten the neckline and on the left side lays a zipper for a comfortable fit. I went a bit "geek chic" with this top, pairing it with a pencil skirt and Buddy Holly inspired glasses. On the right, I toned it down a bit by squeezing into some skinny jeans, and adding a dainty collar necklace. Dress this top up or down, either way you can't go wrong.

Pep Per Diem Top / Just Add Lace Skirt
Last but certainly not least, the infamous lace skirt. This piece not only adds elegance to your wardrobe, it can also be a staple for casual or formal wear. The lace detailing is eye catching and makes a statement alone, or united with a plain or subtly printed top. On the left I paired this lace dream with a plain peplum, creating more of an exaggerated and flirty shape. On the right, I decided to stick with a black, but textured top. The textures of both the top and skirt really go hand in hand, but it is important to keep it minimal.

I hope this leaves you inspired to flaunt in some Hello Holiday wear during our upcoming Fashion Week event (during the 18th-24th of this month!) or just during your everyday routine. And here's some good news! There are tons of markdowns happening on their website, so don't wait! Go, go, go!

Thanks for reading! Until next time...

Press Release: Designers Selected for Omaha Fashion Week Runway Finale to Vie for $20,000 Prize

Designers Selected for Omaha Fashion Week Runway Finale to Vie for $20,000 Prize

Omaha, NE, August 5, 2013 – Omaha Fashion Week organizers have announced the line-up for the Runway Finale on August 24. Fourteen designers will compete for a $20,000 prize package provided by Omaha Fashion Week, Oxide Design Co., Fashion Institute Midwest, Develop Model Management, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (see below for package details).

“There were some tough decisions that had to be made by the selection panel. They’ve spent quite a bit of time with the designers over the summer, so it’s a proud moment for everyone,” said OFW Producer Brook Hudson. “We are thrilled to be able to offer such an extensive prize package to the top designer at Omaha Fashion Week.” The Selection Panel will vote on the winner of the prize package during the Runway Finale.

Since April of this year, designers have been working with members of the OFW Selection Panel during regular group meetings and one-on-one sessions. They’ve discussed target markets, fabric sourcing, runway styling and even post-event sales strategy, all in an effort to help designers make the most of their opportunity at Omaha Fashion Week. “This more in-depth method of mentoring designers and connecting them to the experts on our Selection Panel has led to some incredible ideas, along with new friendships. It has been a deeply rewarding experience for all of us,” said Hudson.

The mentoring program, coordinated by the Fashion Institute Midwest, culminated in the OFW Rack Check held last Saturday, where collections were reviewed and decisions were made about who has what it takes to be in the Finale. The results have been tallied, with the following designers selected for coveted Saturday night positions:

Hollie Hanash, Ruffled Runway (children’s wear) Susan Ludlow, Designs by Suey (children’s wear) Angela Balderston, Get Plastered! (avant garde) Jenny Pool (avant garde) Christian Shuster, christianMICHEAL (men’s wear) Michaela Cawley, KKINI (swimwear) Maximillian Suiter, Max Millian (ready to wear) Terri Buckner, Nuevintage Apparel & Accessories (ready to wear) Sara Gadeken, Sara Marie (ready to wear) Fella Vaughn, Fella (evening wear) Juantiesha Christian, SuShe by J.Tracy (evening wear) Kate Walz (evening wear) Buf Reynolds + Dan Richters, VESSEL (avant garde)

OFW will also feature collections by two special guests – Canadian designer, Dennis Merotto and Kansas City designer, Jeff Hanson. Merotto has been top of the industry for over 20 years and was senior designer for international brand Lida Baday, sold in Sax Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and Nordstrom. He is now in his third season under his own label. Hanson, an OFW alum, is a visually impaired artist who recently achieved his goal of raising $1 million for charity by the age of 20. He is gaining national attention for his one-of-a-kind hand-painted dresses.

Omaha Fashion Week, presented by SAC Federal Credit Union, is set for August 19-24 in the tents at the Capitol District in Downtown Omaha. Tickets can be purchased at www.omahafashionweek.com/tickets. After party cabanas can be purchased for $250 for August 22, 23 and 24 at www.fashioninstituteshop.com.

OFW Selection Panel The OFW Selection Panel chose 30 designers for the S/S 2014 season, out of 45 applicants last April. The Panel continued their involvement with designers over the summer, meeting for monthly group roundtable sessions and one-on-ones to help designers prepare for the show. The Panel included: Rick Carey and David Scott, styling and creative experts; Amy Dudzik, buyer for Borsheims; Wendy Chapman, retail placement expert with Chapman Retail; Meghann Schense, stylist and founder of Esoteric Velvet; Natalie Navis, stylist with Silver Sequined Lining; Kylie Bollwitt, stylist; Megan Hunt, founder of Hello Holiday; Sarah Lorsung Tvrdik, founder of Hello Holiday.

Summer Essentials: Women's Wear Edition

Summer is officially around us! The sunshine is gracing us with heat and unfortunately we have to bear with the humidity. During these dog days of July, and of course the following month of August, finding things to wear comfortably is a challenge. But I'm here to reassure you that you don't have to hide indoors on days where the sun's rays seem too harsh. Here are some necessities that will keep you cool and covered this summer.

Cool Accessories: All the little things in life can go a long way. I personally love summer for this reason. Sunglasses and sun hats are my go-to summer accessories because they act as sun shields aside from the sunscreen. So needless to say, if you're going out to run some quick errands and would rather skip the sunscreen application, just throw on those too cool for school shades and a hat! On days where a tank top and a skirt just doesn't seem like enough, play it up with a light scarf or small hints of jewelry. Here are a few of my picks!

1. Sun Hat / 2. Zeppelin Sunnies / 3. Black & White Wave Pouch / 4. Striped Watches / 5. Essie Nail Polish / 6. Navy Striped Scarf

Chill Threads: Gone are the days for sweaters, those long fuzzy socks that you want to live in forever, and that cup of hot chocolate you grab before work - my usual fall/winter rituals. Now that we've ditched all of the layers, where do we start? Basics are not only a staple, but they're perfect for summer when you just want to throw something quick on. Wearing printed bottoms/skirts or loud jewelry can take your outfit from zero to hero. It's okay to keep it simple. Simple can be beautiful. One of my favorites things to wear during the summer are dresses. Dresses save us time, they're comfortable, and let's be honest, they can make us feel like a million dollars. They are a perfect staple piece for the summer. Here are a few fun pieces, drum roll please...

1. Sky Blue Maxi Dress / 2. Two-tone Camisole / 3. White Spot Skater Skirt / 4. Floral Print Yellow Dress / 5. Grapefruit Top / 6. Light Blue High Waist Shorts

That's all I have for you today. I hope that you enjoyed the pieces I've listed, or at least have inspired you to get out in the sun. You're never too old to get creative with what you wear. Most importantly, don't let the summer heat limit you.

xx, Payton Rodewald http://tinydarling.blogspot.com/

Meet Jessica Hansen

Name: Jessica Hansen, designing for Jessica Alyse

Show Night: Bridal & Swim, August 22

City: Omaha, NE

What are some of your top influences for your designs? I like playing around with past and future trends while always keeping a woman’s body in mind. The texture of fabrics intrigues me as well as playing around with color. Styling hair and creating different looks drives me to want to design a dress to pair with it. I am inspired by all the relationships around me and the love between people. There is just something about putting on a glamorous gown and bringing out a woman’s individual beauty.

Who would be your dream client (dead or alive)? Marilyn Monroe, I absolutely love her! I feel like she always represented feminine beauty with class and romance. She was always taking risk in a world where woman were not supposed to be sexy. I feel like she defined what it meant to be a true beauty with womanly curves and I would be honored to have been able to have her wear one of my gowns.

Who are some of your favorite designers? One of my favorite designer’s is Oscar de la Renta, his gowns are absolutely breath taking! Another one that I have loved lately is Elie Saab, the way she drapes the material of her gowns is beautiful!

What salon is doing your styling for the August shows? In the past I have done my own styling because I love putting the whole look together but this year I wanted to focus more on the dresses so my very talented and amazing friend, Mary Beinor is doing the styling, as well as the wonderful Buddy Sims.

Can't wait to see you August 22nd Jessica!
