Victor Victoria wins first ever live Style Battle of Omaha Fashion Week. Four styling teams spent 48 hours completing head-to-toe looks including hair, make-up and clothing for six models.
On Friday evening the teams drew an Oscar Best Picture winning film to inspire their collection. The first team, Heathers, drew Gone with the Wind and sent true southern-style dresses and hats made of hair down the runway. Next, Unicorn Squad delivered a World War II inspired line a la Casablanca. In the second half, The Mane Attraction created a Victorian-styled collection based on Shakespeare in Love. Closing out our competing teams was Victor Victoria with a line of flappers clad in pearls inspired by the film Chicago. The Beauty Show also featured two collections of New Faces from Develop Model Management, dressed by Pretty in Patina. The show concluded with a live Style Battle in which the top two scoring teams, Victor Victoria and The Mane Attraction, had five minutes to turn a clean-faced and straight-haired model into a Red Carpet beauty while tying in the Oscars theme. Audience members texted to vote and selected Victor Victoria as the winner.
Earlier that morning over 100 guests attended Shop the Runway Sunday for the opportunity to shop collections from 15 designers that showed on the runway this week. Winning Designers from Metropolitan Community College Student Night, Designer Showcases I-III and third place from the Develop Model Management Beauty Show will be announced later today on Omaha Fashion Week social media. Omaha Fashion Week looks forward to celebrating its ten year anniversary August 21-26 at the Omaha Design Center. Stay tuned for more updates.
