Jane Round began showing at Omaha Fashion week in 2009 at the age of fifteen. After graduating high school, Jane moved to New York where she currently studies fashion design at The Fashion Institute of Technology.

Jane’s Fall collection is inspired by John Singer Sargent paintings and other decorative art of the American Renaissance period. She will show a collection of “creative separates, dresses, jackets, coats, and accessories.” The 23-year-old designer says this collection is a bit more understated, wearable and city friendly. “My aesthetic changed when I moved here [to New York],” Jane says. Bringing that creative perspective to sportswear has been a great way for her to grow her collections, she tells us.

“I want the clothes to end up being something that anybody looks at and could wear any day,” Jane says. “I want it to really become a part of someone’s life—that casual, everyday philosophy of practical but still luxury at the same time.”

Her ideal customer wants clothing that can take her from role to role without being fussy, yet still allows her to stand out. Jane wants her pieces to feel special, so she often works with natural fabrics, hand died textiles, hand crocheted and knitted silk and cotton yarns as well as detailing like beading or pleating to make her everyday sportswear pieces a little more special.
