Atomic Bombshells Wins Top Boutique Award at Methodist & Younkers Survivor Show

One hundred cancer survivors took to the runway for the Methodist & Younkers Survivor Show at OFW on March 11, representing 18 Omaha retailers.  Part of proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Inner Beauty Salon at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center.  Inner Beauty is a specialty salon that works with cancer patients on their appearance while undergoing treatment.  Check out this news clip from KETV News Watch Seven's Alexandra Stone to learn more.  You can get involved with Inner Beauty Salon by donating here.

Congratulations to the recipient of the Top Boutique Award, Atomic Bombshells!  Boutique owner, Andrea Hurtt, won a $500 prize provided by SAC Federal Credit Union.

The idea was so popular that the company grew in October of 2010 with the opening of a Lincoln store. Are You Looking for name brand designer accessories but want something with a little more character?- Then Pretty in Patina is the perfect place for you! Pretty in Patina is a local Omaha boutique full of vintage treasures. The store carries name brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, and Louboutin. Pretty in Patina is located in the Old Market area.  Owner Elizabeth Kittell began the company about two years ago selling online. In late 2014, Kittell decided a brick and mortar option was exactly what her company needed.

Marie earned a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing, after her son was born she decided it was time to get out from behind the desk and get involved in the fashion industry. Three Eighteen’s contemporary, unique style flourishes in the Norfolk area. Are you looking for a miracle? Well, at least a skin care miracle. Becky Jochim, Independent distributor for It Work!, is bringing just that to Omaha Fashion Week. The company started with the body applicator or Crazy Wrap thing and has grown from there! Becky has been a distributor for the company since May of 2014. Becky is a passionate entrepreneur who is invested in bringing healthy and life changing products to the area.

Beautiful, unique,one of a kind, and affordable, these are all words to describe local jeweler, Alletti Jewelry. Alletti Jewelery is located in Rockbrook Plaza and is known for its one- of-a- kind jewelry and silversmith. though known by its name today, it hasn't always been called Alletti. Patra Pakieser  opened The Silversmith Jewelry and Workshop in September of 2008.  The company soon grew, in 2010, Patra began by selling at wholesale and by 2011 she began manufacturing as Alletti Jewelry. The company not only sells beautiful jewelry but also teaches others through classes and workshops.

Summer 2014 Tips and Trends feat. Gramercy

Last week, Esoteric Velve'ts Meghann Schense had the opportunity to put together a few looks from the amazing clothes at Gramercy, a women's RTW boutique located in Countryside Village, for a group of young professionals. She had so much fun styling their clothes and answering questions from young professionals about how to best dress for work, travel, weddings or errands. Here are some of the outfits, tips, tricks and Summer 2014 trends she loved:

This first outfit is great for travel. Maxi dresses are super comfortable and lightweight which makes them easy to wear and easy to pack. You could also layer a cardigan over if a plane ride or car gets too chilly. The accessories I found were perfect for a day in the sun, the blue hat is actually packable and folds down but still retains it’s shape. I decided to keep it simple with a statement necklace for jewelry. Pair this with some flip flops and you’re good to go.

I thought this outfit would be perfect for shopping, brunch or a girls night out. The white skinny jeans have a forgiving 360 degree stretch as well as a “butt lift” in the back so it’s flattering on every figure. The outfit pairs great with the Chinese newsprint flats Gramercy has, as well as the brown clutch.

This outfit is also perfect for day to day activities, especially if it’s a little warmer. The shorts have an elastic waistband and the grey silk top is a very breathable fabric for summertime. I paired this look with one of Gramercy’s fun printed scarves. You could wear it as an infinity scarf, tie it like a regular scarf, throw it around your shoulders if you get chilly or even use it as a beach cover up.

For a more modest look I found this wonderful printed kaftan and belted it around the waist with a matching coral belt. I paired this with the same white skinny jeans and dressed the look up with a big statement necklace.

 

I loved this laid back look for running around with kids or running errands. The army green pants are some of Gramercy’s best sellers, the drawstring front is popping up here and there for summer and they are super comfortable. I paired this with a graphic tank with a slightly open back, rose gold jewelry and this fun light pink bag that will hold anything and everything. Graphics, open banks and gold hues are huge for summer so this outfit is perfectly on trend.

This dress is perfect for a summer wedding, and I know there are going to be plenty of those this season. I love the bright neon color, a huge trend, and the silhouette is very flattering on most figures. I added a pair of fabulous earrings and a long statement necklace, some of our favorites from Gramercy’s top-notch jewelry. They have jewelry designers from both India and London that are huge sellers with great statement pieces like the ones pictured above. The great thing about long necklaces that hit at a natural waist is that they are going to draw eyes downwards and give the illusion of an elongated torso. This will make anyone look and feel slimmer.

I also always think it’s best to “edit yourself” before you leave the house when it comes to accessories. This often means removing one or two pieces. There are three types of big accessories: an arm party of bangles and chunky bracelets, statement earrings or a statement necklace. I think it’s probably not a great idea to do all three, but there are always exceptions to every rule. That’s why editing yourself is so important.

Gramercy also has some wonderful work-to-night-out looks like the one pictured above. For a chilly office, I paired the outfit with this great jacket and infinity scarf and a pair of simple black kitten heels. I also, once again, added some on-trend rose gold jewelry. For a night out all you need to do is add a sassier pair of heels, remove the jacket and scarf and add a statement necklace. For a more corporate look, Gramercy also offers a variety of wonderful black dresses and neoprene patterned dresses from one of their best selling brands, Clover Canyon.  Neoprene is great fabric because it really retains it’s shape so it’s a purchase that will last a long time.

Boutique Weekly: Three Clothing

Hello weekend warriors! Omaha Fashion Week is finally here and we're going to leave you with one last Boutique Weekly before this week gets rollin. Kylie, the expert stylist, and I recently made a trip to THREE Clothing to scout for some sweet threads. This was my first visit and I wanted to buy everything in sight. They carried such a variety of color, prints, and textures. The clothes and accessories are also at very reasonable price! You can't beat that. Through all of the digging and searching, here's what we came up with. Top $29.50 | Belt $19.50 | Skirt $49.50 | Shoes $34.50 Let's take a moment and admire how cute Kylie is in this outfit! The polka detailing on the top and skirt flow so nicely. The added plum belt was great touch, so that it accentuates the waist creating more of an hour glass shape. A pair of nude heels complete this quirky look, bringing all the attention towards the geometric prints. Top $29.50 | Belt $19.50 | Skirt $38.50 | Shoes $34.50 Let it be known that it is perfectly okay to take fashion risks. Wearing bright colors can put you in the spotlight, and that's exactly where you need to be, girl. I decided to play with fire and pair a bright red skirt with some yellow accents. This outfit is so sunny! It wouldn't complete without the abstract heart print top. This combination will have you walking on sunshine. Who wouldn't want that? It's also a dose of inspiration for you to dust off your favorite graphic tee, and dress it up for a night out. The houndstooth harem pants are an added statement along with the fuchsia platforms. Boutique Weekly: Roots & Wings

On a sunny afternoon, my coworker Kylie and I went "boutique scouting". Our first stop was Roots & Wings sitting in the middle of Countryside Village. It was my first time visiting and I must say, there was a lot of good merchandise to choose from. I ran into brands such as Free People, BB Dakota, TOMS footwear, M2F denim, and more. Overall the clothing style was leaning towards boho casual, however many of the clothing pieces could easily be dressed formally. We picked out a few items, enough for three outfits. Here's the aftermath! Free People Sheer High Neck Top $68 | Free People Paisley Legging $68 | BB Dakota Red Lace Bandeau $30 I'm really loving this boho-chic, textured combo Kylie put together for this outfit. The top was a dainty, sheer fabric with buttons along the train of the back. The high low design gave this piece elegance. Instead of pairing a camisole or tank top underneath, Kylie paired it with a red lace bandeau, adding a hint of color. The navy paisley coated leggings really pulled this look together, adding detail from head to toe. Free People Floral Eyelet Dress $148 | BB Dakota Black Flap Jacket $95 It was love at first sight with this dress. The floral print and eyelet detailing really make this dress a statement on it's own. The waist is slightly see-through around the cut-out floral design wrapped around the middle. I threw on a leather jacket to take this look from girly to edgy. The jacket's silhouette generously shaped my upper body, letting the dress peak through. Pair this look with some delicate strappy sandals, or some combat boots to grunge it up.

Quick Silver Polka Dot White Tank $34 | M2F Red Skinny Jeans $145 | Free People Denim Jacket $148 For the last look, Kylie took a more casual approach pairing a graphic tank top with a laid-back denim jacket. The jacket is a very admirable piece due to the fabric & denim mix. The polka dots on the top inspired a colorful pant. The red jeans were certainly a good choice!

Boutique Weekly: Hello Holiday!

Hello fashionistas! You'll be very happy to know that I made a visit to Hello Holiday's office to scout out some outfits for some inspiration to share with you! I was surrounded by adorably quirky prints and timeless dresses. Needless to say, I was in heaven. For those who aren't familiar; Hello Holiday is an online women's wear shop offering a wide variety of classic, yet whimsical clothing for women of all sizes. So in summary, if you're looking for something fun and flattering to wear for Omaha Fashion Week, Hello Holiday is that cherry on top of your sundae. I picked out a few pieces and mixed them into my wardrobe. Ready, set, go! Peppermint Patty Dress If you're interested in brightening up your look, why not get lost in fresh peppermint? This dress is a breath of fresh air and can make you feel like a million bucks. The material of this dress is flexible and warm. The dress hits about knee length and is decorated in pleats creating a fuller look. The back of the dress forms a racer back shape. Cooler weather? Just pair it with some tights and a blazer. You'll be breaking hearts in this stunner. Foster Frames / Tick Tock Atomic Top While searching through the closet of Hello Holiday, it was very challenging for me to decide which prints to pick out. The quirky, retro print on this little top is irresistible. The peplum shape is always a flattering choice as well. On the back are buttons that fasten the neckline and on the left side lays a zipper for a comfortable fit. I went a bit "geek chic" with this top, pairing it with a pencil skirt and Buddy Holly inspired glasses. On the right, I toned it down a bit by squeezing into some skinny jeans, and adding a dainty collar necklace. Dress this top up or down, either way you can't go wrong. Pep Per Diem Top / Just Add Lace Skirt Last but certainly not least, the infamous lace skirt. This piece not only adds elegance to your wardrobe, it can also be a staple for casual or formal wear. The lace detailing is eye catching and makes a statement alone, or united with a plain or subtly printed top. On the left I paired this lace dream with a plain peplum, creating more of an exaggerated and flirty shape. On the right, I decided to stick with a black, but textured top. The textures of both the top and skirt really go hand in hand, but it is important to keep it minimal.

I hope this leaves you inspired to flaunt in some Hello Holiday wear during our upcoming Fashion Week event (during the 18th-24th of this month!) or just during your everyday routine. And here's some good news! There are tons of markdowns happening on their website, so don't wait! Go, go, go!
