Excitement filled the air as Omaha Fashion Week presented by SAC Federal Credit Union hit the runway for its final competition showcase tonight as Featured Designers competed for a $500 cash prize. Starting the show with a bang, Headliner Paulie Gibson shared his chic menswear line offering a rich perspective of the modern man. Closing the evening, Michael Drummond brought sophisticated, yet a little offbeat, womenswear. Both based out of St. Louis, the designers are returning headliners for Omaha Fashion Week. Drummond will sit on the Celebrity Panel during the VIP Runway Finale on Saturday.
Amanda Casarez began the competition with slightly masculine shapes juxtaposed with floral patterns and ruffled fabrics. A collaboration between Rebel Vogue and RF Look entitled Fine Elements dressed women of all sizes in intricate beadwork, lace and sequins to hit the town. Models for Alesha Beth stole the crowds hearts in their beautifully made dresses for women and girls inspired by agate and geode rocks.
In the second half Judy Bales Design shared her extreme jewelry featuring industrial materials reflecting the tenuous balance between chaos and order in nature. Chaotic Souls, a line by Parodi Designs depicted how a person is impacted by those around them. Essen took the audience out of this world with an intergalactic chic line in icy whites and blues. Nuevintage closed the competition with a dramatic black and gold line reminscient of a Bohemian Queen.
Following the OFW Runway, Dan Richters premiered his new line Multiverse in The Downtown Club to an exclusive audience of less than 100 viewers. “The concept is creating a space that appears to be a sort of 'bubble' of another universe appearing inside our own,” states Richters. This collection can be viewed again during the VIP Runway Finale on Saturday.
