Modden Studios by Sarah Mader is celebrating her debut collection for the Omaha Fashion Week runway this season on Thursday Feb 23rd.

Sarah describes her current collection as a high-end resort wear collection that embodies romanticism, feminine appeal and a feeling of freeness. She was influenced by her visits last year to Morocco and Spain. "I was really inspired by all of the colors and patterns," she said.

The designer, who is a current Apparel Merchandising and Design Major at Iowa State University, told us that all of the fabric in the collection is custom printed with an original pattern design, so "each piece is unique and different." Sarah says she designs for a woman that is outgoing and adventurous with a love of travel.

"She's really driven, but she knows when to let loose," she added. "She is creative, so she's ambitious in how she dresses; and she's willing to go out on a limb with what she wears."

Sarah hopes she can eventually grow Modden Studios into an international luxury lifestyle brand that caters to women’s, men’s and children’s apparel, accessories and home goods.

After graduation, she says she will continue accepting commissions for custom work under her label; while, hopefully, landing a technical design job. She has no plans for putting her dreams on hold. "[Designing], it's pretty much the only thing I ever wanted to do with my life," she said. "It's really cool seeing your things go from pieces of fabric to a full garment you can wear."
