Omaha Fashion Week’s Spring 2023 season of fashion and nostalgia ended with a lively show with featured designers. Featured Designers are experts at their craft who will showcase high-quality, ready-to-buy looks on the runway. They are inspired by themes of luxury, upcycling, and honoring cultural heritage.
Omaha Fashion Week celebrates 15 years of runway showcases during the De Ponte Spring 2023 season. De Ponte is Latin for "from the bridge" in honor of Omaha Fashion Week's start under the Jones Street bridge to glamorous celebrations at the Omaha Design Center, and everything in between. The atmosphere of the night reflected the streets of Omaha and rave culture in the 1990’s. Wild posted walls were the perfect backdrop for new memories as guests posed and snapped shots.
Guests arrived to the Omaha Design Center and rushed to take photos by Hapis Imagery on the Milan Laser Red Carpet, and enjoyed music from DJ Crabrangucci. Live virtual graffiti art by Dan Richters was a mesmerizing addition to the pre-show entertainment.
VIP Guests were greeted by valet, posed on the Milan Laser Red Carpet, then found their premium seats along the Omaha Fashion Week Runway. Thanks to Village Pointe Aesthetic Surgery | Dreams MedSpa, every guest was a VIP and received valet parking and complimentary hors d'oeuvres.
elle glo apparel, headliner and last season’s winner of the Golden Sheers Award, opened the show with a collection made to blur the line between what pieces appear to be and what they truly are. Lauren Glowaki demonstrated her ability to take important issues like overconsumption and present it with an effortlessly cool, yet bold aesthetic.
Quanecia Frasier of KETV hosted our show with grace and attitude. She was styled by the lovely, Buf Reynolds, with clothing from her personal vintage collection.
The runway show continued with a collection from Sarah Dexter Designs that perfectly executed subtle luxury. Then, Smullywear created a moment in time with a presentation of bright colors and delicate florals. Hand dyed and hand knitted garments from Molly McPherson kept us grounded. And Still A Lady brought vibrant energy to the runway with a collection of lingerie for women with abdominal insecurities and breast irregularities.
During intermission, house music kept the energy up and attendees enjoyed looking through their Omaha FASHION Magazine.
Lights dimmed and guests awaited the next segment of collections starting with European minimalism meats Californian cool from Bakker Brown. Next, Nuevintage showed chic silhouettes, and regal design to portray a world of glamour, with a twist. Rachel Marie Hurst displayed a semiformal collection with handmade roses and geo prints to represent the path of resilience. We returned to streetwear with an androgynous aesthetics inspired by the notion of glamorous utilitarianism from CASAREZ. MJ Queen Beauty & Fashion immersed us into a colorful explosion of sexy fabrics and powerful silhouettes. Finally, TRBROWN closed the show by bringing us to a past world of 1930’s Great Britan with an elegant and modern expression of societal dress.
This Spring 2023 DE PONTE Season of Omaha Fashion Week was filled with joy and nostalgia. We had the most wonderful time indulging in fashion, friends, and memories of OFW under the bridge. Thank you to everyone who made this week so much fun and filled with lively energy!
Until August…
