Omaha Fashion Week’s “Fashion for Good” Spring 2019 season continued with a packed house during last night’s Metropolitan Community College Student Night!

Guests started filling seats as soon as doors were open to Omaha Design Center, eager to have a good view of the runway! DJ Sharkweek provided the beats, enlivening the atmosphere during the Pretty in Patina Pre-Party. Attendees struck a pose on the Omaha Fashion Week Red Carpet, and cell phones flashed throughout the building as guests projected their photos above the runway using the hashtag #MCCatOFW!

Metropolitan Community College Student Night specifically provides a platform to showcase garments and mini-collections from local high schools and fashion mentoring programs. The student designers who presented their work Tuesday evening are the future of the fashion design industry, and Omaha Fashion Week gets to be one of the first to showcase their talent!

The evening kicked off with a Q&A Discussion Panel, where the audience had the opportunity to pose their questions to an amazing group of professionals in various creative industries! Professionals on the panel included Valerie St. Pierre Smith, Agustin Delgado, Grant Reid, Alyssa Dilts, Keith Rodger, and Luke Wells. They provided insight on their experiences in the fashion industry and shared advice for current students on how to do what you love and be who you truly are.

James Wilcox of KETV Newswatch 7 then ushered the crowd into the runway portion of the evening on the Allure Med Spa Runway to Beauty! Students from Nebraska 4-H, Joslyn’s Fashion Arts Program at Yates Community Center, FCCLA, and Central High School displayed their original works during the first half. Designers competed for a $500 cash prize!

During intermission, guests grabbed a drink at the Absolut Elyx Bar, shopped the Pop-Up Shop Market, and entered to win amazing giveaways from Metropolitan Community College: an MCC Fashion Design class or an OFW VIP Experience, including a pair of box seats for the ADORNED Emerging Designer Showcase, hair and makeup for two, and a backstage tour!

As guests found their way back to their seats, the second half of the show commenced with vibrancy and enthusiasm! Students from Kent Bellows, South High School, and Burke High School displayed their hand-designed garments. The crowd cheered and applauded, some even giving a standing ovation, as the models hit the stage one last time to showcase all of the designs of the second half.
