Hey all!
OFW Producer, Brook Hudson, here. Some important questions about Covid-19 Safety Protocols were brought up at our Model Casting Prep Workshop a few weeks ago. I’d like to address those in this blog post. These safety protocols will apply to our June 19 Model Calls in Lincoln & Omaha and are based on the latest data from the CDC, Lancaster County & Douglas County.
Are Masks Mandatory?
No. But they are strongly encouraged, especially because we still have people in the community who have not been vaccinated. The OFW Team & Volunteers will be wearing masks during these events. These events are indoors, can be crowded and we will have limited ability to enforce social distancing.
Will you be asking for proof of vaccination?
No. However, we strongly encourage those who are eligible to get vaccinated as soon as they are able, to protect themselves and our community.
Will you be enforcing social distancing?
We will do our best to encourage attendees to socially distance themselves while standing in line. However, the nature of an in-person model call involves a certain amount of close proximity to others while standing in line and physical contact with OFW Staff & Volunteers in order for us to take body measurements. Please bear that in mind as you make decisions about how best to protect yourself.
If I choose to wear a mask, what will I do with it during photos?
We will have you lower your mask during photos. Photos take a very short amount of time and you will be six feet away from photographers, volunteers and other participants during this phase of the model call.
If I choose to wear a mask, what do I do with it during the runway video portion of the model call?
Leave your mask on for this portion. We will only be evaluating your walk on the runway. Photos will allow us to see your face.
I am waiting on results from a Covid-19 Test. Can I still come to model call?
NO. If you have a test pending, you should quarantine until a negative result is received.
I had a close contact with someone who is Covid-19 positive in the last 10 days. I have not been tested. Can I come to model call?
NO. If you have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, you must quarantine for 10 days or until you receive a negative test result. Close Contact is defined as being within six feet of someone who has Covid-19 unmasked for at least 10 minutes, or having someone in your household who has tested positive in the last 10 days. If this is you, please quarantine and get tested as soon as you can.
I have weird symptoms like a runny nose & cough. I’m not sure if it’s allergies, a cold or Covid. Can I still come to model call?
Please stay home if you feel under the weather. Regardless of what you have, it might be contagious and the best thing to do is stay home & take care of yourself to prevent spreading it around in the community.
Will these same protocols apply to all OFW events this summer?
Not necessarily. We are in a very fluid situation as we look at vaccination rates vs. the spread of variants. We are always taking community spread, vaccination rates, and local Covid-19 Safety mandates into account when making decisions about how best to protect our fashion community. At each event, we will release new protocols on our blog so guests and participants are prepared to keep themselves and each other safe. Thank you for your cooperation and flexibility on these matters. Your safety is our number one priority.
If I miss model call due to a positive Covid-19 test or close contact, can I still model?
There are often additional one-off opportunities to be in the show that come up over the summer, as some models drop out, have Covid exposures or designers need to cast additional models. We post these opportunities on social media, so please follow us to stay informed about modeling opportunities.
