Chessna Fernald is showcasing her latest collection on Friday, August 26th at Omaha Fashion Week! Chessna is a self-taught designer and has been designing and sewing clothes since she was a teenager. Her first collection was debuted at OFW in 2010.
The avant garde collection she is presenting this season will encompass an “earthy” touch. “On the surface, my collection is inspired by the flora and fauna of forests…Beneath the surface, it is inspired by one’s relationship with themselves; the idea that, like being in a forest, you can enjoy being your own self or you can feel lost or trapped within your mind/body,” she explains. Chessna is creating stark contrasts within the collection to represent the emotions that embody this inspiration.
What’s next in store for Chessna? “I plan to continue establishing my work and expanding my market. I would also like to create more pieces to sell and perhaps do more custom work for people. I would love to do collaboration with other designers as well.”
