This season, OFW is welcoming a lot of fresh new talent to the runway. One of these talented designers includes, Abigail Parodi of Parodi Designs. Abigail is a Fashion Textile and Apparel Design major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Throughout her design career, Abigail has accomplished quite a bit. She has presented work in UNL’s Biennial Juried Fashion Show and Spring Fashion Show, the Woven Design Challenge, the Renaissance Conference Show, Project Fun-Way, and the Concept2Consumer Competition.
This season, Abigail will be showing a collection comprised of dresses, skirts, tops, rompers, and pants. “As a designer, I am inspired by stories. After studying Greek and Roman tragedies, I fell in love with the female characters from multiple stories. They are strong women that start off soft and delicate and end their tales being bold and fierce rulers. My collection mirrors the tale of a woman as she becomes more powerful,” she tells us. She will be incorporating dark colors and prints as well as untraditional fabric to create daring and dramatic looks.
Abigail will be graduating from UNL in August. In the future she hopes to be the head designer for a label or to have her own design company.
Abigail hasn’t traveled this design journey alone. “I would not be where I am today without the love and support of my family and friends. My mom is my biggest supporter. She has always encouraged me to follow my dreams and helped me in every way possible to achieve my goals. My sister does everything from keeping me energized with coffee to modeling my outfits so I can work on fit. The two of them help me more than I can say,” she explains.
Please help us welcome Abigail to Omaha Fashion Week! You can see her work live on Monday, August 22nd. Tickets are available here. See you there!
