Glimmering lights and lively sounds filled the atmosphere Tuesday evening as Omaha Fashion Week kicked off it's Spring 2018 Fashion for Good season with Metropolitan Community College Student Night. Talented students from across the Omaha area owned the runway, not only as designers of their own craft but also as models!

Over 600 guests were in the audience to watch various local student programs come together to display their art. Represented on the runway was work from the Kent Bellows Mentoring Program at the Joslyn Art Museum, Nebraska 4-H, Nebraska FCCLA, Omaha South High School, Omaha Central High School, and Burke High School. Designers competed for a $500 cash prize.

Before the show, OFW Producer Brook Hudson led a panel discussion with local industry experts: Keith Rodger, co-owner of Make Believe Recordings; Alyssa Dilts, founder of Develop Model Management; Nick Huff, co-owner of Hutch; Elizabeth Kittel, owner of Pretty in Patina; and Jessie Ross, with Metro Community College. Topics included where panelists get their inspiration, how they've overcome discouragements in their careers, and more.

Singer/Songwriter Mary Ruth from the Kent Bellows Music Program serenaded during the Pretty in Patina Pre-Party, as guests shopped, mingled, and snapped photos on the Borsheims Red Carpet. Colt Paulsen emceed the evening the only way he knows how-with high energy and lots of amusement!

Nebraska 4-H opened the first half of the show by coloring outside of the lines with flirty silhouettes and an absorbing color palette. Omaha South High School closed the first half, exhibiting intriguing shapes and warm tones.

Burke High School kicked off the second half of the show with classic color schemes and silhouettes. Central High School brought romance to the runway wearing neutral spring wear with pink heart shaped balloons in hand. The Kent Bellows Student Programs represented a wide variety of both men’s and women’s wear, from on trend dresses to boxy sportswear. FCCLA concluded the evening with graceful and elegant feminine dress wear.
