Only FIVE WEEKS until Omaha Fashion Week kicks off another exciting season of fashion and glamour February 23rd-29th, and we’re thrilled to share more about our amazing lineup of designers!

The newest collection from Esmeralda Lole of Kyrie Eleison Couture sheds light on mental illness, and the surprising lack of mental health resources within minority communities. Fighting the most common stigmas, the collection captures the beauty in each struggle.

How did you get into fashion? Share a little about your background.

I dreamed of becoming a fashion designer since I was ten years old. Coming from a culturally diverse and humble beginning, I started pursuing my dreams by revamping old clothing. From there, I taught myself how to create garments from scratch, then continued chasing after my dreams by attending The Art Institutes International. Graduating with a bachelors in Fashion Marketing, I equipped myself to become an entrepreneur. After college, I knew she wanted to continue to design but wasn’t sure what market I wanted to specialize in. After much prayer and research, I received my calling to become a couture designer, which is when Kyrie Eleison Couture was birthed. I design every piece with the concept of reflecting the beauty we have within, the beauty God has given us. Each piece is meant to compliment the client and enhance what is already there. Now, Kyrie Eleison Couture specializes in couture gowns and suits. My brand has been featured in many local shows, as well as published in Lo’Cal Magazine, StartLand News, JasmineDiane, and more!

Describe your brand and the feeling you want it to convey. How was your brand concept born?

Kyrie Eleison Couture is a luxury brand that specializes in custom made garments. I want every client to feel that each piece is as unique as they are.

What are your personal goals, or goals for your brand?

My goal for the brand is to become known across the US for my craftsmanship, and booked enough to create jobs for not just myself, but those around me.

Describe your favorite project(s) that you have worked on.

This upcoming collection is currently my favorite. It deals with real life issues that we as a community need to discuss. I hope to portray not just my struggles, but my community struggles well.

Describe the collection you are creating. Where did its inspiration come from?

The collection I am creating is inspired by mental health in the minority community. It has been a personal struggle for myself, and recently I’ve found that it has been a heavy struggle for those around me. This collection is meant to shed light on this issue and create a safe space for us to discuss our struggles.

What are the signature styles or silhouettes of your collection?

Signature styles are the classic tailored suit with a modern twist, and evening wear that hugs the body in the midst of chaos. Some elements to expect are pops of neon colors, webbing wraps, pleated details, and flowing chiffon.

Describe the specific customer you are designing for.

The clients I am designing for are people who are looking for unique garments for a special event. It may be prom, wedding, or red carpet, but they need a look as unique as them.

How do you balance creativity/innovation with consistency in your work?

I remind myself why I started and what I want to be known for - craftsmanship.
