By Sabrina JonesA few months ago I was approached by a new client who loves the fashion of the 50’s. She is getting married this summer and wanted me to create a custom designed wedding dress inspired by that era. I began to research fashion trends of the time, as well as some of my favorite designers -- Balenciaga, Chanel, Jacques Fath, and Christian Dior. Those familiar with my designs are well aware of my love of corsets and my passion for historic fashion. Although my client initially pushed me to study the 50’s, I was immediately drawn to the femininity and grace of this era. The voluminous swing skirts, emphasizing tiny little waists, and the overall head-to-to glamour, which included hats, gloves, and handbags, had me hooked.
