As a woman, I am very passionate about spreading awareness of sexual assault and bring light to the issue. When I closed the show, I had felt that our voices were heard. As I walked back from the runway I could hear the support from the crowd and multiple standing ovations. It was a very powerful moment and I loved doing it with my best friend by my side!

For as long as I can remember, I have always been drawn to creative and beautiful things! The world of modeling has always done an amazing job of merging both. I was introduced to the fashion industry back when I lived in Zimbabwe. My older sister would walk the runway as a model and I admired her confidence up there. From that moment on, I knew that’s were I wanted to be. On the stage, getting a chance to showcase a designer’s vision. Outside of modeling, I’m continuing my love of creativity by attaining my MFA in Interior Architecture & Design! I love being able to see a space and turn into something that reflects the person it belongs to. In a way, that’s why I’m drawn to all things creative and art!

What was your favorite memory of this season at Omaha Fashion Week.

My favorite memory of this last season was the energy backstage. As much fun as it is to watch the fashion show from the audience view, backstage is always such a different level of energy. It’s where Omaha’s fashion creatives get to be all together in the same space. I love being able to see people I haven’t seen in while and meeting new ones. From the models, designers, hair and makeup artists, to photographers and videographers! Everyone is always so welcoming and supporting each other. There’s nothing like it!

I started modeling at age 17. I was signed by Elite Models right out of high school, but modeling scared me. I wasn't ready to travel the world as a professional model; I wanted to go to college and stay a little closer to home. So I did a few jobs close to the Omaha market, and then let it go for many years. At age 45, I signed a modeling contract with Develop. Now, I model because it's more meaningful to me. I want to be part of the movement to showcase "older" women as relevant, attractive, important members of the fashion community, and the world at large. Inspiring other women is important to me; not necessarily to provide inspiration to model, but instead provide inspiration that life doesn't end at age 30. It is possible to start a new career, create a new lifestyle, or pursue a passion no matter what your age may be. And - women don't have to lose their sex appeal just because they're no longer in their 20s. Representation of age across all mediums is important.

What was your favorite memory of this season at Omaha Fashion Week.

I've walked in many OFW events, but the Spring 2023 season was my favorite! I walked for designer Bakker Brown, and was selected to represent their collection at rack check. They also chose a mini skirt for me the night of the show. This designer didn't put stereotypical boundaries on what a 48-year-old woman should wear; I was given one of the sexiest ensembles in the collection, and it was empowering. I also walked with a model who was in her 60s, and it was so refreshing to see a beautiful mix of men and women representing a modern designer's collection on the runway.
