Dalton Taylor is a newcomer this season for Omaha Fashion Week. The Journalist, Blogger, and Designer currently works and studies in New York City.

Taylor became interested in fashion in 8th grade. In high school, he took a fashion course that sparked his interest in sewing and construction. The collection Taylor will be bringing to Omaha Fashion Week is loosely based off of what he describes as the “Antwerp Aesthetic,” (represented by designers Demeulemeester and Dries) which features draped, loose, and all black looks. “I want to take this dark, ‘ninja goth’ as coined by industry today, and clean it up to incorporate a cleaner, more feminine overall look.”

His inspiration for this season evolved from a small concept to a mix of many different ideas. Taylor commented,

“I think it’s the slightly unsettling feeling that you get when you look at an incomplete thing that inspires me I want that feeling to linger when you look at my work. Not in a negative way, but in a way that could be equally inspiring.”

As far as inspiration in the fashion and design industry, Taylor credits himself. He believes that “if you pay too much attention to what other people are doing, your creative works are no longer your own.” He adds, “Not to say that I don’t keep up with the industry or appreciate the aesthetics of other designers, I just think there is a fine line between appreciation and emulation.”

Taylor's current goals involve creating one capsule collection per year. In the future, he hopes to finance a small production run of a prospective collection under his label, D A L T O N | T A Y L O R.

Omaha Fashion Week is thrilled to welcome Dalton Taylor to the Midwest’s premiere fashion event. We are excited to see his creativity on our runway this coming March! Make sure to keep up with him by following @daltonjackofficial on Instagram.
