Newcomer, Monnie Winslow, will be showing a collection on Thursday, August 25th. Monnie has been sewing since she was 15 years old. “I am mostly self taught, along with a few sewing classes in high school and mentoring from friends, family, and coworkers,” she explains.

Monnie is focusing on mental illness with this collection. “Mental illness is hard to talk about but I think it’s important to be open with your feelings. My line is inspired by a time in my life where I was struggling with depression and found myself no longer able to create or do the things I had once loved,” she says.

“My line is a casual take on the dystopian trend. I chose to do this because when you’re struggling with mental illness it feels like you’re living in an alternate world to everybody else…No matter what girl wears my clothing I want them to feel like they can take on the world,” she goes on to tell us. She will be mixing textures and textiles to bring this inspiration to life. In addition, she is incorporating animal bones and teeth as accents.

“This line is very personal and I hope people will be able to relate to my message.” We are really looking forward to this special collection. Make sure to get your tickets to see it live here. See you there!
